This book was a little out of my comfort zone. The two main characters are both high level drug/weapons/prostitution leaders of rival crime syndicates. It doesn't make them easy to like less love. The sex scenes are brutal, but hot/dirty. That said I found myself enjoying the way these two men circle, hunt, and push each others buttons. In the end you end up liking them together and it works.

I'm a fan of this series overall. I liked the first half dozen the best, but all are entertaining. The last few have so much going on instead of focusing on one central couple. I wished this book was just about the King/Queen (Present and past.) In many ways it feels like a daytime soap, flicking between characters. Waiting to get back to your favorite couple.

This is a difficult book for me to review. This a complete departure from the author's normal writing style. Very gritty, violent, and there's not a happy ending in sight. No hearts and flowers either. Did I like it? Yes. Would I read it again. Maybe??? This book won't be for everyone.
