Review

Ella Frank writes F/M erotic novels. Right up front Let it be known I haven't read any of them. Now she delved into M/M erotic genre so I thought I would give it a go.
360 pages
Book Description:
Try – verb: to make an attempt or effort to do something or in this case…someone.
Sex. Logan Mitchell loves it, and ever since he realized his raw sexual appeal at a young age, he has had no problem using it to his advantage. Men and women alike fall into his bed—after all, Logan is not one to discriminate. He lives by one motto—if something interests you, why not just take a chance and try?
And he wants to try Tate Morrison.
Just coming out of a four-year marriage with an ex-wife from hell, a relationship is the last thing on Tate’s mind. He’s starting fresh and trying to get back on his feet with a new job at an upscale bar in downtown Chicago.
The only problem is, Tate has caught the unwavering and unwelcome attention of Mr. Logan Mitchell – a regular at the bar and a man who always gets what he wants.
Night after night Tate fends off the persistent advances of the undeniably charismatic man, but after an explosive moment in the bar, all bets are off as he finds his body stirring with a different desire than his mind.
As arrogance, stubbornness and sexual tension sizzles between the two, it threatens to change the very course of their lives.
Logan doesn’t do relationships. Tate doesn’t do men. But what would happen if they both just gave in and…tried?

My Review:
Where to begin. This is a erotic tale. Now some websites/publishers group all gay romance/ erotica/ porn without plot all in the same genre and it's not. There's a big difference.
My definition of erotica is a romantic tale with a very high heat rating. There still needs to be a storyline, plot, character growth, romance etc... Everything a person would normally be looking for in a romantic tale just with graphic sex.
If this your first foray into M/M romance I would recommend other novels first: Writer's Like Tere Michaels, Marie Sexton and Sean Kennedy.
Now I will be perfectly honest. I disliked the first 30+ percent of this book. I didn't connect with the main characters and I wanted to stop reading. I even picked up an old classic read just to clear my head.
Why?
- The book starts off with Logan joining the mile high club with a woman. Right off the bat I'm already turned off. This is a M/M tale and yet there's female bits. So Just a warning for those who only want male sex scenes.
- Logan is so unlikeable in the beginning. He's arrogant, brash, unsavory...Really I could keep going.
- Tate is whiney and uninteresting. He's a sad, sad man.
Now after 30%, the dynamic shifts a little. The seduction by Logan begins and more romantic elements are shown. Logan can be charming and even vulnerable. Tate becomes more self aware.. This is also where the graphic sex scenes(M/M) begin. Even for an Erotica, there's a lot sex. I mean a lot. To the point where I'm starting to think alright enough already. Put your clothes back on. You need to eat or something.
( I am not a fan of Porn without Plot books.) Just saying.
The book is full of trust issues. Can Logan stick to just one person? Can Tate openly date a man and feel comfortable with it? There's a lot of back and forth. I trust you, no I don't. Don't leave me. Okay. Let's have sex.
This book ends on a cliff hanger and another book is coming out this summer.
Will I purchase it? Probably not. I'm not invested in the characters. This book in the end wasn't for me. I'm more about romance and not necessarily the sex.
