2nd Book in the Odd Thomas series.
386 pages
Favorite Line: I was looking forward to having a halo. It would make such a convenient reading lamp.
Book Description:
I see dead people. But then, by God, I do something about it. Odd
Thomas never asked for his special ability. He’s just an ordinary guy trying to
live a quiet life in the small desert town of Pico Mundo. Yet he feels an
obligation to do right by his otherworldly confidants, and that’s why he’s won
hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death. But when a childhood
friend disappears, Odd discovers something worse than a dead body and embarks on
a heart-stopping battle of will and wits with an enemy of exceptional cunning.
In the hours to come there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice
can tip the balance between despair and hope.
Review:
This book was disappointing. Sort of a big let down. I was so invested by the end of the first book, but this book was just one big downer. I mean is was depressing. Odd is just so sad and miserable throughout the whole book. There's just so little of the humor that was mixed through the first installment. I missed it, even Elvis was crying.
The evil villain is just so over the top and completely psycho. Not in a good way either.
I did enjoy the new character Danny. ( What little scenes there were of him.)
So unfortunately, this is where the series will mostly likely end for me. I'm no longer invested in the characters.
Friends of mine have read this and loved it. So each to their own.
Happy reading.
